đ First of all⌠why is Cam Newton out here beefing with a mascot?
We were all tuned into ESPNâs First Take at the Magic City Classic expecting some fun, HBCU pride, and a little friendly competition. But instead of keeping it cute, Cam Newton decided to take it personal â with a mascot.
đââď¸ The Setup
It started innocent: Alabama Stateâs âStinger the Hornetâ and Alabama A&Mâs âButch the Bulldogâ did a 40-yard dash for fun. Stinger won, Cam celebrated, and everybody laughed â until Butch playfully knocked Camâs hat off.
You know, regular mascot energy. Itâs literally their job to clown around.
But Cam? Oh, he didnât find it funny.
đ¤źââď¸ Cam Newton Lost His Cool on Live TV
Cam turned around and swung on Butch. Yes, the mascot.
He pushed him, yelled âStop playing with me!â and looked ready to square up like he was back in the NFL.
Now, be serious â thatâs a man in a 30-pound dog suit in 80-degree weather trying to make people laugh.
Cam, what are we doing?
đŤ AGP Opinion: We Stand With the Mascot, PERIOD.
Because how you mad at a man getting paid $12 an hour to jump around in foam paws and spread school spirit?
That Bulldog was doing his job â giving energy, repping his team, entertaining the crowd.
Cam shouldâve taken the L (and his hat) with grace.
Itâs giving âpick on somebody your own size.â
đŹ The Internet Reacts
Twitter (or X if you fancy) wasted no time.
People were calling it âCam Newton vs. Clifford: The Big Red Fade.â
Others said, âCam got tackled by a mascot â career highlight.â
And honestly, we agree.
đĄ Bigger Picture
This was supposed to be a celebration of HBCU culture, not a WWE crossover event. Mascots bring joy, rivalry, and school pride.
Cam Newton brought ego, and ego never wins.
đŤśđ˝ Our Final Sip
At the end of the day, we riding with Butch the Bulldog.
Because if you canât handle a little mascot shade â maybe the sidelines ainât for you, boo.
Everything is alleged. Everything is entertainment.
