A court hearing involving Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie Osefo drew attention Friday as prosecutors argued for access to years of the couple’s financial records.
According to The Baltimore Banner, the hearing focused on whether the state can subpoena eight years of personal and business finances as part of an insurance fraud investigation tied to a reported 2024 burglary at the couple’s Maryland home.
Prosecutors claimed investigators found 67 credit and debit cards in luxury wallets and alleged some items reported stolen were returned for refunds before the burglary. Defense attorneys pushed back, calling the subpoenas overly broad and an invasion of privacy.
The judge said he was inclined to side with the state but did not issue a ruling from the bench. Wendy and Eddie Osefo have pleaded not guilty, and the case is scheduled to go to trial in April 2026.
For now, the dispute remains centered on access to records — not a determination of guilt.
