Recouplings, Revenge Kisses & the Grossest Challenge Yet
Episode 9 gave us drama, betrayal, and one of the nastiest games in Love Island history. Between Tariq catching feelings, Justine playing chess not checkers, and Isiah still doing the most, this villa is a mess. Let’s break it down.
🎉 Cheers to Marvin & Sydney
The episode kicks off with the Islanders toasting Marvin and Sydney. Johnny is happy to see Adrienne celebrating his first challenge win. The two agree they’re tired of being the “vulnerable couple.”
💬 Marvin Makes His Rounds
Marvin pulls Andrea for a chat. She admits she’s happy about her win but sad over losing her bestie. They bond over their backgrounds. Later, Marvin takes Nicola to soul ties, testing reflexes and talking travel (Malta, anyone?).
🏆 Justine Plays the Long Game
Josh and Justine talk strategy. She’s real—because she’s a strong competitor, she’ll always be a target. She admits she likes Tariq but doesn’t trust that he’s serious about the game. Money first, love second.
Later, in the speakeasy, Tariq tells Justine his strength is his social game. She considers teaming up… then they make out. 👀
🔀 Game Talk & Strategy
Johnny and Tariq also chat, with Johnny saying he needs a strong partner to survive. Tariq agrees—he wants to win and partner with Justine.
Meanwhile, Josh reassures Andrea after her tough win against KayKay. He admits his strong coupling with Justine but says he also feels a romantic connection with Andrea.
😬 Isiah’s Messy Moves
Isiah pulls Sydney for a chat about their breakup. She says there were lots of misconceptions and admits she feels bad for her past self.
But then Isiah turns around and makes out with Lucinda on the dock. Sir, please. 🚩
💕 Other Villa Chats
Toby tells Sydney he’s really here for love. Adrienne and Johnny keep strengthening their bond.
🔄 First Re-Coupling
Garbi gets a text—it’s time for the first re-coupling! Islanders gather in the garden, and the drama begins:
Kendal & Garbi couple up again. Adrienne & Johnny stay strong. Tariq wants Justine, but she chooses Josh instead. (Yikes.) Andrea picks Josh too, locking him down. Toby & Sydney couple up. Marvin & Nicola stick together. Lucinda & Isiah choose each other (of course 🙄). By default, Justine & Tariq end up coupled. Tariq storms off to the singles bench first, salty AF.
🤢 The Baby Bird Challenge
Producers said, “Let’s traumatize them.” Couples have to transfer food from their mouths into their partner’s bowl. Disgusting.
Andrea & Josh dominate Round 1. Isiah throws a fit when he doesn’t win. Lucinda gives the middle finger in tears.
😡 Tariq’s Salt Levels
Tariq is furious Justine didn’t choose him. Meanwhile, she’s focused on the game and her $250K strategy.
